Police Blotter: Aggravated Burglary, Inducing a Panic and Attempted Theft

The following was culled from Cuyahoga Falls police reports. It does not indicate a conviction.

Two thieves burst into a man’s Howe Avenue apartment on Tuesday night and began assaulting him. He was put in a chokehold, slammed to the floor and kicked in the face, according to a report. After the man was subdued, the thieves rounded up his laptop, Xbox 360 and jewelry. However, they had to drop the items, jump out of a back bedroom window and flee on foot to evade officers who arrived on scene. A neighbor had called police and reported the disturbance. Police have suspects and leads, and the man intends to press charges.

Beer burglar

A Sheraton Suites kitchen employee received quite a surprise when she found a man in one of the hotel’s walk-in coolers early Wednesday morning. The man was trying to pry open a locked cage containing alcohol, but fled after being discovered.

Suicide threat

Officers rushed to Chart Road at 1 a.m. on Thursday after getting a call that a man was threatening to shoot himself inside his house. The man, who had a large laceration on his arm, gave himself up and was taken to a local hospital for treatment and evaluation. Numerous guns, knives and ammunition were found in the house and removed by police. The man will be charged for inducing a panic.
