Police Blotter: 3 Assaults, Including 2 at High School, and Felony Domestic Violence

The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Assault

• A resident of the 2200 block of Harding Road reported that his daughter was assaulted by a known female at Cuyahoga Falls High School, 2300 4th St., at about 2 p.m. Oct. 18. The father said his daughter was punched repeatedly in the head, and he will prosecute.

 • A resident of the 1200 block of Lincoln Avenue reported his son was punched and thrown to the ground at about 2:45 p.m. on Oct. 18 at Cuyahoga Falls High School. The father said he will prosecute.

 • A resident on the 1000 block of Tallmadge Road told police the mother of his children threw a log through his east window and punched his friend in the eye when the friend tried to intervene at about 2:30 p.m. Oct. 16. Police arrested Candice R. Cognati of Newberry Street  and charged her with assault and criminal damaging. 

Domestic violence

A 15-year-old Cook Street juvenile was charged with a felony count of domestic violence after he slammed a door into his mother, then kicked her in the back as she was on the ground at about 9 p.m. Oct. 17, police said. Police said because the teenager has a previous conviction for domestic violence, this charge was made a felony charge.

Breaking and entering, Theft

• Two sump pumps were taken from a foreclosed property on the 2700 block of Tifft between Sept. 22 and Oct. 1, an agent for Chase bank reported. The pumps were valued at $800. There were no signs of forced entry.

Criminal mischief, damage

• Someone shot orange paintballs at the south side of Cuyahoga Falls High School building, 2300 4th St., and the guard shack between Oct. 14 and Oct. 17.

• The owner of Custom Auto Care, 2152 State Rd., told police two garage door windows were broken at the business the night of Oct. 17.

• Someone spray-painted an obscene image on the roadway in front of a house on the 1600 block of Hanover Street between Oct. 15 and Oct. 17.

• An unknown object was used to scratch both sides of a car parked at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 3rd St., between 5:30 and 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 17. Damage was estimated at $1,000. 

• The front doors of Redemption Christian School, 2141 5th St., were egged the night of Oct. 14, and the school and church were egged the night of Oct. 15, police said.
