Motorist Injured After He Runs Stop Sign, Hits House & Overturns Car

The traffic crash at Bailey Road and Hollywood Avenue sent the motorist and two others to the hospital early Wednesday morning

A 25-year-old Stow man was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after running a stop sign, hitting a house and flipping his car.

The motorist, Denae O. Fikes, was heading eastbound on Hollywood Avenue near Bailey Road about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. Fikes ran a stop sign and his car struck another car that was driving southbound on Bailey Road, according to the traffic crash report at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.

The man's car then struck a house in the 3200 block of Bailey Road.

It overturned and then hit a light pole and finally came to rest on the tree lawn of the house that it had hit.

Fikes and the driver of the second car, Brianna M. Deckert, 17, of Cuyahoga Falls, were both taken to Summa Akron City Hospital. Deckert's passenger, an 18-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman, also was taken to Akron City Hospital for possible injuries.

According to the crash report, Fikes was treated for incapacitating injuries while Deckert was treated for minor injuries.

The report also indicated police did not believe alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash, but the road conditions were wet and rainy.

Fikes was cited for running the stop sign.
