Motorist Injured After He Runs Stop Sign, Hits House & Overturns Car

The traffic crash at Bailey Road and Hollywood Avenue sent the motorist and two others to the hospital early Wednesday morning

A 25-year-old Stow man was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after running a stop sign, hitting a house and flipping his car.

The motorist, Denae O. Fikes, was heading eastbound on Hollywood Avenue near Bailey Road about 12:45 a.m. Wednesday. Fikes ran a stop sign and his car struck another car that was driving southbound on Bailey Road, according to the traffic crash report at the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department.

The man's car then struck a house in the 3200 block of Bailey Road.

It overturned and then hit a light pole and finally came to rest on the tree lawn of the house that it had hit.

Fikes and the driver of the second car, Brianna M. Deckert, 17, of Cuyahoga Falls, were both taken to Summa Akron City Hospital. Deckert's passenger, an 18-year-old Cuyahoga Falls woman, also was taken to Akron City Hospital for possible injuries.

According to the crash report, Fikes was treated for incapacitating injuries while Deckert was treated for minor injuries.

The report also indicated police did not believe alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash, but the road conditions were wet and rainy.

Fikes was cited for running the stop sign.

Possibly texting. Similar situation happened last year and people need to be held more accountable for their actions. Suspend the license for life is a start.

I actually babysit for the family who lives in this house, I am babysitting for the at this exact moment, the damage is much worse than you see in the picture. There is glass everywhere in their driveway and yard. The kids rooms are on the side of the house where the car hit, except for the youngest. The kids dad happened to be out of town when this all happened. Had the car gone any faster, or moved the wrong way, it would've gone through the wall where the kids sleep. There is gasoline and oil all over the driveway. Thankfully the car stopped where it did.

That's a 25mph road and I'm no expert but I think you would have to be traveling over 40 to flip a car. I don't think I could flip my mini van at 25 and then bounce off some stuff and slide into a house even at 40. Reckless op for sure !

Raymond, the police told the family in the house that he was speeding, and arguing with someone on his cell phone.
