Meth Found in Un-Inhabitable Home, Two Charged with Endangering Children

A tip led police to search a home on 23rd Street. Hazardous waste found in the house was removed.

On Wednesday afternoon, Cuyahoga Falls police got a call about a woman throwing away "suspicious" items in an alley near Marcia Avenue that turned out to be paraphernalia used to make methamphetamine.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Narcotics Unit and the Summit County Drug Unit executed a search warrant in the 2000 block of 23rd Street and found hazardous waste was found, according to a press release. It was remove by the hazardous waste disposal contractor.

A youth was at the home, which was deemed in-habitable, officials said. The city will inspect the home further, at the owner's expense, before anyone can live there again.

Bryan P. Sandella, 29, and Gemma Matthews, 27, were arrested following the search of the home. Sandella and Matthews were both charged with:

  • Illegal Manufacture of Drugs, a first-degree felony
  • Illegal Assembly of Chemicals, a second-degree felony
  • Endangering Children, a third-degree felony
Police said the youth was turned over to the other parent who lives in a different house.

Sandella and Matthews were both booked into the Summit County Jail pending their first court appearance.
