Man Injures Self in Jail After Being Arrested

The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Munroe Falls man was arrested on July 22 for driving while under the influence at Front Street and Falls Avenue. The man resisted arrest by tensing his arms and pushing back toward the police officers who were trying to handcuff him.

After police got him under control and took him to the station, the man refused to walk to his cell, refused to  give up his clothes for a jumpsuit and grabbed at an officer's utility belt. While in jail, the police found a knife belonging to the man. The man had no proper justifcation for having the knife.

While in his cell, the arrested man suffered from self-inflicted injuries and had to be transported to the hospital.
