Home Depot Theft Arrest; Ford Focus Driver Flees From Police

Cuyahoga Falls Police Blotter: Local crime from Feb. 22 – Feb. 28.

Home Depot employee Gina L. Wardwell faces identity theft charges after another employee told she used two separate credit card numbers from the store's customers to purchase $4,000 worth of Home Depot gift cards. The incident reportedly took place between Feb. 17 and Feb. 20 at the store located on Howe Ave. Wardwell, a resident of Akron, was arrested on Feb. 22 and charged with theft.

Alexander P. Linton was arrested on charges of failing to comply with the order/signal of a police officer on Saturday evening. Police report Linton fled from officers in his 2005 Ford Focus. Linton reportedly sped through several stop signs between Chestnut Blvd. and his residence on Ohio Ave. before being apprehended.

  • Just prior to midnight on Feb. 23, an unknown white male exited the Sheetz gas station, located at 1210 Main St., with two cases of Keystone Light beer. The suspect was seen leaving the parking lot in a red Ford four-door vehicle. The value of the stolen beer is approximately $32.
  • Two vehicles on 11th St. were broken into early Feb. 24; $350 worth of personal property was removed from a 2011 Subaru parked on the 1400 block of 11th St. and a flashlight was stolen from the glove box of a nearby Jeep Wrangler. Neither vehicle sustained any damage and the method of entry is unknown.
  • In the early morning hours of Feb. 25, Donald R. Mason, an Akron resident, was apprehended by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department on the property of GS Steel Services located at 3400 Cavalier Trail. Mason admitted to stealing various pieces of scrap metal from the premises in addition to criminal trespassing and was arrested at the scene.
  • On Feb. 25 an employee of the Sonoco gas station at 2113 State Rd. told police that an unknown male suspect stole a gallon of milk without paying.

Burglary:

  • Between 7:45 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. on Feb. 25, it’s reported an unknown suspect forced their way through the front door of an apartment located on Americana Dr. The resident reported multiple personal possessions missing from his home, totaling approximately $6,700.
