Gun Found in Man's Glove Box During DUI Arrest

Local Cuyahoga Falls crime from March 15 – March 22.

arrested Richard Prior, of 12th Street, on the corner of 14th Street and Portage Trail March 16 on a charge of driving under the influence and use of weapons with alcohol. Officers found a loaded Smith and Wesson handgun in his glove box. 

 Theft:

  • Richard Camp was arrested March 19 after the manager of a Target store  at 449 Howe Ave  told police that Camp tried to leave the store with items totaling $86 in his pockets without paying. Items included a GPS navigation device, dog bark deterrent device and batteries. 
  •  Akron resident Aaron R. Maurer, was arrested March 20 on charges of theft and possessing criminal tools. Police say he took  two DVDs worth $28 from the Howe Avenue Target. Police also found him carrying a utility knife, which they believe he used to remove security packaging. 
  • Just after noon on March 18, Elizabeth Stevens was arrested for concealing nearly $20 of cleaning supplies in her purse while walking through Klein's Pharmac , 2015 State Road. Police also found an oxycodone tablet in Stevens' bag and charged her with theft and possession of drugs.
  • An employee of Ambiance, 1230 Buchholzer Blvd., told police March 18 a personal massage device worth nearly $100 was taken from the store. The store is willing to prosecute if the thieves are identified.

  • A man told police his black 2004 Volkswagen Jetta was damaged with a large scratch, which extends from the left front panel to the rear passenger door, while parked in a lot south of 431 Stow Ave. the evening of March 16. Damage is estimated at $200.
  • A red Chevrolet Silverado was damaged while parked along Stow Avenue on March 19. The truck's owner reported nearly $800 worth of damage, including three broken windows and a broken side mirror.
  • A resident of a Pinebrook Trail apartment called police early March 19 to report her blue Chevrolet had been vandalized, resulting in nearly $1,500 in damages. The vehicle's hub caps were missing, two side mirrors were broken and the car had multiple scratches along the exterior.
