Thief Targets Grieving Women at Funerals

Summit County Crimestoppers is offering up to $2,000 for information leading to the thief's arrest.

A thief suspected of stealing from funeral homes in Copley and Cuyahoga Falls has struck again.

On Nov. 14, an Akron woman reported her purse had been stolen from the Ciriello-Carr Funeral Home, according to a Fairlawn police report.

The woman told officers her purse was set aside as she and her family grieved during calling hours; and when she came back, it was gone.

The handbag contained $10, a cell phone and her debit card, the report stated.

The thief used the woman's card to make a $160 purchase at Circle K and a $60 purchase at Marathon gas station on West Market in Fairlawn.

Anyone with information regarding the recent string of thefts is asked to contact Summit County Crimestoppers at 330-434-COPS.

According to newsnet5.com, you can remain anonymous and could be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000.

Refer to News Channel 5 coverage, and see if you can positively identify the crook.
