Falls Resident Arrested, Charged with Breaking Windows of Funeral Home, Church

A recap of local crime April 3-11.

Cuyahoga Falls resident Ryan McMullen, 30, has been arrested in connection with damage to Clifford-Shoemaker Funeral Home at 1930 Front St. and Pilgrim United Church of Christ on Broad Boulevard that occurred April 6. Windows in the rear main door of the funeral home and the building itself were smashed with a large rock, causing an estimated $400 in damage. A glass door on the south side of the church was shattered in the same manner, causing estimated damage of $200. The buildings were not entered.

An assistant manager of Advance Auto Parts, 2249 State Rd., told Cuyahoga Falls police April 8 that someone used an unknown object to shatter a large window near the entrance to the store. A board-up company was notified to make a temporary repair and the window will have to be replaced. The total loss is estimated at $4,000.

Later that night, a resident of Third Street reported that at about 9:30 pm, someone broke a window in his residence using a piece of cinder block. A neighbor witnessed the incident. The total loss reported was $250.

Rape

A Kent woman told Cuyahoga Falls police that she was raped on April 2 at a home on the 1500 block of Wellingshire Circle. The victim said that a known male drugged her without her knowledge and took advantage of her while she was unconscious.

Theft

  • Cuyahoga Falls resident Debra Koloniar, 48, faces one charge of theft after a Giant Eagle employee reported seeing Koloniar place a twelve-pack of soda in her shopping cart on April 5 and leave the store, 230 Howe Ave., without paying for the beverages.
  • The head coach of Walsh Jesuit High School’s softball team, Bill Davis, contacted the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department April 3 after several players’ belongings, including cash, a cell phone, an iPod and a silver necklace, went missing during practice. The items, totaling nearly $1,100, were taken from the girls’ unlocked lockers at the school at 4550 Wyoga Lake Dr.
  • A local store has been swindled out of a $1,500 jackhammer. According to the owner, an adult male rented the expensive piece of machinery from Falls Tool Rental on Main Street March 25 and agreed to return the 60-pound power tool early March 28. However, the subject failed to return the jackhammer and has ignored all of the store owner’s attempts to contact him both by phone and mail letter and now faces one charge of theft if the missing equipment is not returned.
  • Police have possible leads in the theft of two iPod devices and a set of headphones from the lockers in the field house at Woodridge High School, 4440 Quick Rd.  The theft occurred on April 5 between 2:45 and 4 p.m. while the three victims were at baseball practice.  The missing items are estimated to be valued at $450.
  • A white 2006 Chevrolet Cobalt was reported stolen from a resident of the 2000 block of Germaine Street early April 8. The missing vehicle has dark tinted windows, an amplifier in the trunk and is decorated with an array of stickers. The car is estimated to be worth about $13,000.

Breaking and Entering

  • A couple living on West Bath Road contacted police the afternoon of April 5 upon returning to a ransacked home with nearly $10,200 worth of personal belongings missing from their residence. A 46-inch television, two handguns, seven rifles, five diamond rings and one diamond necklace, a small jewelry box and an iPod are among the stolen items. The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department is investigating the burglary but there are no suspects at this time.
  • In the early morning of April 7, a couple reported that while they slept soundly the night before, someone entered their home on the 30 block of Hollywood Avenue through an unlocked sliding glass door and took a laptop worth $400 and $60 in cash.
