Falls Police Raid Suspected Meth Lab

SWAT team executes search warrant at Silver Lake Avenue home.

A Cuyahoga Falls SWAT team raided a Silver Lake Avenue home about 8 p.m. Tuesday evening and found equipment for a methamphetamine lab, hazardous materials and several weapons.

Police in a press release said, “On May 10, 2011, the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department Narcotics Unit during an investigation learned of a methamphetamine lab located at 740 Silver Lake (Ave.) in Cuyahoga Falls.”

“A search warrant was obtained. The Cuyahoga Falls SWAT team executed the search warrant at approximately 8 p.m. without incident.”

Two juveniles, age 13 and 14, were detained and turned over to Summit County Children Services.

Police arrested John E. Richmond, 49, of 740 Silver Lake Ave., when he arrived at the home.

Richmond is charged with a felony count of illegal assembly/possession of chemicals for manufacture of drugs and misdemeanor charges of drug abuse instruments and drug paraphernalia.

Additional charges are pending, police said.

Hazardous chemicals and equipment used in making methamphetamine were confiscated, police said, along with a sawed-off shotgun, three other shotguns and two rifles.

Why was a retraction never printed regarding this mans innocence? Did I miss something here? I've noted a LOT of stories of late reeking of sensationalism along the lines of the Jerry Springer show,...TRIPE. Alot of people jumped on the "cross burning" band wagon and said some incredibly cruel things about this man and all without knowing the facts of the matter,... I do not know this man but I think someone at "the patch" needs to do a follow up on this story and tell the witch hunters the truth!

Well, I have to say that the "grasping" of straws has really started now. REALLY?? How about taking some of the money and time wasted here and doing something constructive with it. This whole thing is so stupid and frankly makes me flippin sick. Crooks EVERYWHERE you turn..can't trust anyone downtown, uptown, above ground or under ground. Find something else to report....something with some merit. I wont be back here to comment or to read a comment. This is about as bad as the Star and those other papers at the grocers checkout.

Who's policy, Lindsay? It was the truth..ask the prosecutor next time you "talk" to some one about the findings. I'm sure this whole thing will be deleted. But I really dont care. This is just like everything else on the internet and in the papers and on the news. Believe nothing of what you hear and only half of what you see. Have a nice day

Well Chris it's been two months since your post. You're probably busy unpacking at your new home. I'm curious as to whether or not you packed anything from your garage or under the kitchen sink, that might resemble a meth lab? I was shocked to see the common household items that "make up" a meth lab. I googled "what constitutes a meth lab" and wow was I astounded!!! My kids use a blender to make smoothies, should I turn them into the police? My point is not to attack you personally, because that would be against policy, but to inform you that you more than likely own 90% of what is in a meth lab. Enjoy your new home:) Hopefully you searched for known meth lab locations on your local sheriff dept. website. It's crazy though, John Richmond's home is NOT listed. Wonder why?

I know this is two years later but still. My uncle was proven INNOCENT! That's right, he did NOTHING wrong just like Darlene and so many other tired to tell you. You know why he got in trouble in the first place? He had a 'friend' who was involved in these things and since he knew him he also got pinned for this crime. Everyone of you who were bashing and slandering MY family should be ashamed. Just because you hear something doesn't make it true. So what it was in a paper or article. If I write a new report saying Bananas grow on Mars, does that make it true? No, also how dare you say my cousins are growing up in a dangerous home! They have the ideal home, a mom and a dad who are still married and in love with two children they love more the anything. I bet you don't have the perfect American family. They do and you all tried to ruin it. Richmond is a good, strong name and trust me all your negativity and hatred made it stronger.
