Falls Police Discover Meth Lab in Trunk Over Weekend

An Akron man faces felony charges following a drug bust on Route 8. The following information was supplied by the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

A traffic stop over the weekend turned into a drug bust after police discovered meth.

report a patrol officer stopped a red, Dodge Neon at about 9:30 a.m. Saturday, for speeding while traveling south on the State Route 8 Howe Avenue exit ramp.

Police discovered the driver, Bright Rothhaas, 32, of Akron, was driving with suspended license and had a warrant out for his arrest in Tallmadge.

Rothhaas was arrested after police found numerous items for manufacturing methamphetamine and the final product. Detectives from the Cuyahoga Falls Narcotics Unit, the Summit County Drug Task Force and the responded to the incident, which shutdown the exit ramp for traffic for a little over an hour.

Police said an active methamphetamine lab was found in the trunk of the vehicle, in a press release. Police recovered items from the vehicles including $535, digital scales and two cell phones.

Rothhaas was taken to the Summit County Jail.

Rothhaas Faces the Following Charges:

  • Drug abuse, a felony of the third degree
  • Drug trafficking, a felony of the third degree
  • Illegal assembly of drugs, a felony of the third degree
  • Illegal manufacture of drugs, a felony of the second degree
  • Criminal tools, a felony of the fifth degree
  • Drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor of the fourth degree
