Falls Police Department Joins Forces with Social Media

Chief expects more two-way communication with Facebook page.

The Cuyahoga Falls Police Department recently launched a Facebook page to establish new connections to the community.

Chief Thomas Pozza answers questions about the reasons for starting a Facebook page. Reason No. 1 is the ability to reach a large audience quickly on Facebook.

“The popularity of Facebook makes it an easy way to have two-way
communication with the public.  Information can be posted on Facebook that
can reach a lot of people quickly. It also facilitates the public to
communicate to us their concerns, questions and comments so that we can
serve them better and more efficiently.”

Sgt. Ed Caswell and Pozza will be the administrators of the page.

Pozza encourages the public to post comments on the page. “However, they must not be vicious or threatening in nature or else they will be deleted,” he said via email. “Our goal is to provide the best possible police services to Cuyahoga Falls and I, as the chief,  want to know when we fail to do that.”

Facebook will become another tool in communicating information to the public quickly and reliably for the police, Pozza said.

“As we get used to using Facebook, we will provide video and photos
of wanted people, people we need identified and the like. Sgt. Caswell
will check and update our Facebook each day that he works.”
