Falls Police Blotter: $5,000 Fraud; Giant Eagle Thief Nabbed by Police

The following was culled from Cuyahoga Falls police reports dated Aug. 19. It does not indicate a conviction.

A woman called on Sunday after realizing someone had racked up $5,000 in unauthorized charges on a line of credit that she reportedly did not open. The charges started mounting in Jan. of 2011, but the woman wasn’t aware of the fraud until a collections department contacted her. There are no leads or suspects.

DVD thief nabbed by police

A 22-year-old strolled into the Howe Avenue on Sunday night, swiped several DVD’s and ran. Police caught the small-time crook shortly thereafter and the stolen movies – valued at $120 – were returned to the supermarket. The man was cited for theft.

Drive-by egging

A resident living on the 2300 block of 10th Street called police after several eggs were splattered across the front of his house on Sunday night. The man said a group of people cruising in an SUV was to blame, but he didn’t catch the license plate. There are no leads.
