Falls Police Blotter: $2.5 Million Sweepstakes Turns Into $10,000 Con

The following was culled from Cuyahoga Falls police reports dated June 5-8. It does not indicate a conviction.

A Falls man called on Friday afternoon, saying he sent $2,500 cash to someone who claimed he’d won $2.5 million and a car in a sweepstakes. The man continued, telling officers he then sent $7,500 cash to someone claiming to be an FBI agent investigating the sweepstakes fraud. He wishes to press charges if the con artists are caught.

Lewd dude

A woman reported Wednesday evening that an unknown black man exposed his genitals as they rode an elevator in the apartment complex. Officers search the 2200 block of Winter Parkway, but were unable to find the lewd dude.

Swiped sneakers

UPS delivered a package to a man’s Second Street apartment on Tuesday, but unfortunately, the package was stolen before he came home to retrieve it. The box contained a new pair of Asics running shoes. Estimated loss: $105.

Stolen wheelchair

A woman reported Tuesday that someone stole her power chair from the 500 block of East Portage Trail while she was moving. Estimated loss: $5,000.
