Falls Blotter: Crook Caught in the Act; Diamonds Are a Thief's Best Friend

A thief was caught in the act on Sunday when he tried to sell a stolen bag of golf clubs to . He very well could have gotten away with the crime, but the person he stole them from – a New Franklin resident – called several stores in the area and gave them a description of the stolen property. As soon as he walked into Play It Again, the employees recognized the clubs and called . The man was arrested on scene.

Diamonds are a thief's best friend

A woman from the 2500 block of Eighth Street called police after realizing her diamond engagement ring had been swiped from her jewelry box. The theft occurred sometime between June 1 and June 15, she said. There are no suspects or leads. Estimated loss: $2,500.

False alarm

On Friday, a man allegedly called the Cuyahoga Falls dispatch center and reported a woman overdosed at the 1800 block of Windsor Street. Police responded and quickly determined the woman was fine and needed no medical attention. Police have a suspect.
