Cuyahoga Falls Police Blotter: Animal Cruelty Charges and a Suspicious Fire
Fire marshal suspects arson; dog abandoned in basement. A sample of the latest local crime from Jan. 31-Feb. 7.
The landlord of a property located on the 3000 block of State Rd. reported Jan. 31 that his previous tenant abandoned his pet dog in the basement of the home without food, water, or heat. The missing tenant has been charged with cruelty to animals and the landlord has taken possession of the dog temporarily.
Firefighters responded to a fire late Jan. 31 on the 800 block of Loomis Avenue. The flames were successfully extinguished, but the fire marshal became suspicious of the fire when he found newspapers and furniture strewn about the smoldered twinplex. Three people were inside the home at the time the fire was reported, but no injuries were reported. As suspect has no yet been named as the continues to investigate.

- An employee of the Giant Eagle grocery store on Graham Rd. reported Jan. 30 that Abdulhadi Al-Garawi left the store without paying for an assortment of beverages valued at $106.83. Al-Garawi later gave false information to a police officer and was charged with both theft and obstructing official business.
- A woman living on the 1900 block of Germaine Street reported Jan. 31 that someone stole an assortment of jewelry, including a ruby ring, a sapphire ring and a wedding ring, from her home. The thief also removed $540 in cash. The total value of the missing items and cash is $2,400.
