Council Approves Settlement for Woman Injured in Cuyahoga Falls Natatorium

A 76-year-old Akron woman had surgery because of an injury she claimed in a lawsuit could have been prevented in the women's locker room.

Marcine Grispin, 76, of Akron alleged in a suit against the city of Cuyahoga Falls that she was injured when a bench she sat on in the locker room in 2010 flipped and pinned her against another bench.

During a meeting Monday, City Council voted 9-0 to enter into a special settlement agreement, according to the Falls News Press.

The lawsuit claims that the legs of the bench Grispin sat on should have been bolted to the floor, but were not. The city countered by saying that the bolts were loose, but not enough to cause the bench to flip.

After the incident, Grispin had surgery for a torn rotator cuff, which cost $39,165.91.

The board of control will consider the settlement on July 22, reports the Falls News Press
