Attempted Murder Suspect Pleads Not Guilty to Several Charges; Cash Bond Set

David P. Seitz II, 27, of Cuyahoga Falls, was charged with multiple misdemeanor and felony counts following a Dec. 29 incident where he allegedly attempted to murder his girlfriend.

David P. Seitz II pled not guilty to numerous misdemeanor charges in Stow Municipal Court on Wednesday in connection with the alleged attempted murder of his girlfriend. 

According to the Stow Clerk of Courts Office, Seitz, 27, of Cuyahoga Falls, pled not guilty to domestic violence, aggravated menacing, using a weapon while intoxicated and discharging firearms -- all of which are first-degree misdemeanors.

His pretrial on those charges is set for 10:15 a.m. on Jan. 7 in Stow Municipal Court.

Seitz is also facing several major felony counts, including attempted murder, felonious assault and the discharge of firearms.

His preliminary hearing on those charges will be held on Jan. 7 as well, but the case will likely be bound over to the Summit County Court of Common Pleas.

Seitz has not yet entered a plea on the felony charges.  

Dec. 29 incident

A heated domestic dispute almost ended in murder when Seitz allegedly loaded a rifle and tried to shoot his girlfriend on Dec. 29 at 10:12 p.m..

The woman told police she was choked and assaulted, and said Seitz threatened to kill her, then himself, according to a message posted on the Cuyahoga Falls Police Department's Facebook page.

Seitz reportedly fired off six rounds as he and his girlfriend struggled for control of the weapon.

The pair suffered minor injuries during the incident that allegedly took place inside the High Street residence they shared. 

According to police, the rifle and ammunition were being stored inside the residence prior to the dispute and belonged to Seitz's girlfriend. 

Seitz is being held in Summit County Jail on a $500,000 cash bond.
