Virgie Farris, 94, Was Cafeteria Manager for Cuyahoga Falls Schools

Elder and deacon at United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls

Virgie Farris, who graduated from Cuyahoga Falls High School in 1933, had worked as a cafeteria manager for the Cuyahoga Falls schools.

Farris, who died Nov. 24, at age 94, had served as a deacon and elder at the United Presbyterian Church of Cuyahoga Falls.

She also taught Sunday school and belonged to the women's circles at the church. Farris was born Virgie Ruddle on Dec. 19, 1915, in the town of Trimble in the northwestern corner of Tennessee.

She lived most of her life in Cuyahoga Falls.

Her husband, Glen, died in 1993. They had been married for 58 years. Her son, John, who lived in Garrettsville, died last year at age 72.

Farris is survived by her son, Mike of Medina; daughter, Janet McBurney of Mogadore; 17 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and a sister, Betty Spellman of Uniontown.

A memorial service was held earlier this month.
