How can we use Patch, Falls News Press, and ABJ tools online to help our community members?

Our discussion process will ask questions. We will capture (write) what we say. We will use the latest tools & techniques to support our discussion.

On Friday 3/29/2013, at 10 AM we will discuss the above question in the Falls Public Library.

Several tables (with rows & columns) available on our eFriends website will help us detail this discussion.

Within the limits of the people who attend our discussion, we will validate the accuracy of the tables.

The tables have been emailed to our contacts for our three media platforms.

This email invited the media to attend and further validate the comparison.

At the time of this posting, they have not replied.

After our discussion, we will again email our updated tables to the three media platforms for further validation.

In the absence of any reply by the media, we will assume that silence is consent.

To put the above in context, below are a few paraphrased statements from a study done by the Pew Research Center.

Marketers and public relations people use the social media to promote their own view. The digital news media is not staffed to moderate the incoming potential news.    The old newspaper media (shrinking) is becoming less able to clarify incoming news tips.

This trend started in politics during the 2012 presidential election campaigns. Reporters repeated the words of the candidates and others with an agenda.Reporters did not investigate, interpret, and post news within a context. Thus, statements by the campaign were posted directly to the media. And, campaign managers looked for more ways to connect directly with us.

Meanwhile, more of us forward the news we like to our friends and family -- in digital format. This trend will spread beyond politics
