"SummaCare Spirit of America!" Patriotic Concert Benefits Good Neighbors - Marine Color Guard to Attend

The Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus, in collaboration with the City of Cuyahoga Falls, has established the campaign, “Cuyahoga Falls Cares.”  It was created to make the public aware of the needs in our community and, through special events, unite the community in service to make a difference in the lives of others.

The year’s inaugural event, sponsored by SummaCare, will address the needs of the underserved through the wonderful work of Good Neighbors of Cuyahoga Falls.  Good Neighbors distributes food, clothing, books, toys, household items as well as many other necessities to families and individuals in Cuyahoga Falls and surrounding communities.

To kick off the first annual Cuyahoga Falls Cares campaign, the Cuyahoga Falls Community Chorus, under the direction of Edward Arthur Shure, will present a patriotic concert entitled “SummaCare Spirit of America!” to honor the men an women of the United States Armed Forces - active, retired and fallen. The outdoor event will take place on Saturday, May 28, 2011, at 3:00 pm, at the beautiful Falls River Square Amphitheater.  A Color Guard from the United States Marines 3/25 Weapons Company will be on hand for a special ceremony during the concert.  Activities for the entire family will begin at 2:00 pm, including face painting, balloon making, raffles, and much more.  The rain date for the event is Sunday, May 29.

The public is asked to bring non-perishable food and personal care items to the event in support of support Good Neighbors of Cuyahoga Falls, whose volunteers will be on hand to collect the donations.

“I was amazed to learn that Good Neighbors serves over 800 families in Cuyahoga Falls alone. I decided that the Chorus needed to do something to help this wonderful organization,” shared Chorus Director, Edward Shure. “That’s when the idea of Cuyahoga Falls Cares came to me.  I am very grateful to SummaCare for their support of this worthy event.  I humbly ask the community to come together by attending our concert and bringing as much food and personal care items as possible.  You can also help by spreading the word about the event to all of your friends, family members, co-workers and even people you meet on the street and urge them to participate!  Feel free to go to the event listing, ‘SummaCare Spirit of America!’ on Facebook to let us know you plan on being there – and then share it with all your friends!”
