Help Clean Up Cuyahoga River Watershed for RiverDay

Cuyahoga Valley National Park and the Conservancy for Cuyahoga Valley National Park need volunteers for its 21st Annual RiverDay. Volunteers will help clean up the Cuyahoga River watershed between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m.

The event commemorates the 42nd anniversary of the Cuyahoga River fire that caused about $50,000 in damage. It is also part of the Friends of the Crooked River's RiverDay 2011.

Volunteers will meet at a central location in Peninsula at 8 a.m. to get directions for their project sites, assemble into crews and carpool to sites. Volunteers will help cut back the invasive Japanese Knotweed and remove trash. They are required to wear long-sleeved shirts, long pants and sturdy boots. Water, gloves and safety glasses will be provided.
