Oakwood Chapel Open House & Stained Glass Windows History Presentation

Sept. 28 Oakwood Chapel Open House & Stained Glass Windows History Presentation

Have you always wanted to know more about the Oakwood Cemetery chapel and its 12 historic stained glass windows? Stop on by the chapel at 2420 Oakwood Drive in Cuyahoga Falls on Sat., Sept. 28 for the annual open house, hosted by the Ladies' Cemetery Association, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. Admission is free.

At 11:30 a.m., there will be a presentation by local author Mary McClure regarding the history and symbolism contained in the chapel's early stained glass windows, which honor early citizens and fraternal organizations. Other historical items on display at the 1898 chapel will include a book holding the names of all veterans buried in Oakwood Cemetery since the Civil War. The Ladies' Cemetery Association, a 501 (c) (3) organization, is raising funds for the restoration of the chapel's stained glass windows. Packs of note cards and Cat's Meow figurines of the chapel will be available for sale.
