Mark J. Price to speak at Nov. 13 Cuy. Falls Historical Society meeting

Many people aren’t big fans of Monday morning. However, if you love local history you probably can’t wait for Monday to arrive – because that’s when Mark J. Price’s weekly local history column appears in the Akron Beacon Journal. Whether he’s writing about a beloved beagle who attended school in Akron, the Sunday dancing controversy at Riverview Park in the Gorge, or a 1940s quiz designed to help men determine if their sweetheart was marriage material or just a “good-time Gertie,” his columns always manage to delight, inform and entertain.

You are cordially invited to attend the Weds., Nov. 13 meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society, featuring speaker Mark J. Price, copy editor and local history columnist for the Akron Beacon Journal. The meeting, which is free and open to the public, will be held at 7 p.m. in the Sutliff meeting room at the Cuyahoga Falls Library, 2015 Third St.

Price, author of the book The Rest is History: True Tales of Akron’s Vibrant Past, will have copies of his book available for purchase and signing for $20.

Live out of town and aren’t able to attend? You can see past copies of Price’s columns at http://www.ohio.com/lifestyle/history. His book is also available from amazon.com or other online booksellers.
