There is a form of slavery going on still today – in the 21st century, which is shocking and staggering in its horrors and depravity.  Human trafficking has enslaved more today than at any other time in history – 30 million to date.  Men, women and children are all targets for exploitation – whether it is working in brick factories in Indonesia, household labor in the Ambassadorial households of 3rd world dictators, or sex trafficking of young adults from all over the world.  If you are distressed by this fact, and would like to invest your skills, time or finances to help those in terrible straits, please attend the S.T.A.N.D.  Against Trafficking forum on Sunday, December 16 from 2-5 p.m.  S.T.A.N.D. represents what we hope will happen in the lives of the downtrodden as caring people invest their energies in helping:  Serve –Teach – Advocate – Nourish – Dignify.

This event will feature information clarifying what can be done:

1.       at the Statehouse level enacting laws in Ohio to fight against this terrible wrong – occurring within our own State borders.

2.       We will hear  from a representative from Rahab Ministries in Akron, OH, an organization working with women who have been trafficked into drugs and prostitution.

3.       Not For Sale, another International organization that focuses on diminishing poverty to redirect the futures of those who might be trafficked, will also make a presentation.

4.       We will have representation from a couple of organizations who through fair trade type practices produce products for sale that help turn the tide of poverty.

No related items will be for sale at this event.

This event will be held in the Gathering room of The Root Café – a non-profit café housed in the Northampton United Methodist Church at 852 W. Bath Rd, Cuyahoga Falls, OH.  Due to space limitations, we do ask for your reservation.   Ask for the manager of the café at 330-928-9323 or use the following link to register: https://www.facebook.com/events/161017257378414/permalink/161017820711691/?notif_t=like
