Viewfinder: Fall Colors

Some autumns seem more colorful than others. This year seems so-so, so far.

My viewfinder visited the Gorge Metro Park and the Glens Trail along the Cuyahoga River near the city lines for Cuyahoga Falls and Akron early Saturday evening. The setting sun tends to intensify colors, and it had the desired effect on Saturday.

This year doesn't seem to have the spectular fall spectrum of colors that we get some years. Fall seems to require a certain blend of moisture, light and temperature to get the maximum color out of trees before they shed their leaves for the season.

According to the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, much of Northeast Ohio is already fading in peak colors.
