Riverfront Irish Festival 2012: Opening Night Brings Thousands to Falls River Square

Corned beef, Celtic music and kilt-clad participants got the weekend-long Irish festival started off right on Friday.

The popular Riverfront Irish Festival resumes Saturday at , leaving two more days of celebrating Irish heritage with music, food, dancing and vendors of jewelry and clothing articles – right down to sheleighlies.

There’s even a 5k race today and an Irish Mass on Sunday. Since it’s a family-friendly event, there will be activities and inflatables for the kids to enjoy.

Parking and admission to the festival – sponsored by the Ancient Order of Hibernians, St. Brendan Division – are free.

A large variety of entertainment will be showcased throughout the weekend on three stages. Click this link to read about the performers.

The festival runs from noon to midnight Saturday and noon to 7 p.m. Sunday. Beer stops pouring at 11:30 p.m. Saturday; on Sunday, ticket sales stop at 6 p.m. and beer stops pouring at 6:30 p.m.
