Residents Vent to Planning Commission, Meth Cook Gets Jail, Romney Visit & More

1. Neighbors fume over plans for blighted Rick Case Honda property on State Road. The city's Planning Commission heard from several area residents who are unhappy about Prestige Auto Group's plan to buy the property and convert it into a used car lot. Neighbors would prefer the property remain empty.

4. Purple lights are shining on the Falls River Square clock tower throughout October. City officials have partnered with the Battered Women's Shelter of Summit & Medina Counties to help combat the rampant crime. Residents are encouraged to shine purple lights from their homes in a show of support.

5. Retailers like Mr. Fun's Costumes in Cuyahoga Falls are prepping for a portentially record-setting Halloween shopping season. A longtime employee of the family owned and operated State Road store reveals which costume ideas are hot this year and where shoppers find their inspiration.

6. Mitt Romney is coming to town. Don't be surprised if you see Mitt Romney's campaign bus outside the Natatorium on Oct. 9. According to Mayor Don Robart, the Republican presidential hopeful will hold a rally at the city fitness center on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m., reports the Akron Beacon Journal. New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie will join Romney at the event.
