'Perversion Files' Allege Cuyahoga Falls Boy Scout Leader Sexually Abused 12-Year-Old

The documents, released by order of the Oregon Supreme Court, allege a Falls man attempted to hypnotize a young Boy Scout before sexually abusing him.

The Boy Scouts of America’s “perversion files” were released Thursday by order of the Oregon Supreme Court, and it’s come to light that a Cuyahoga Falls Boy Scout leader was accused of sexually abusing a child.

The documents detail a July 1972 incident in Akron where a 28-year-old Falls troop leader was accused of “engaging in sexual contact with a 12-year-old Scout,” reports the Falls News Press.

The alleged incident took place at Camp Butler in Summit County when the leader tried to hypnotize the Scout before sexually abusing him.

The report stated the leader admitted to the encounter as described by the young Scout. It appears Boy Scouts of America did not take criminal action; instead, records show he was directed to leave the camp and seek treatment.

This disturbing incident is one of hundreds documented by the Boy Scouts of America from 1959 to 1985.
