Is Your Valentine Furry?

Many pet owners spend Valentine's Day curled up on the couch with a fur ball rather than in a cozy restaurant sharing a plate of meatballs.

Did you see that Reuters poll that said about 20 percent of adults would rather spend Valentine's Day with their pet than their significant other? It's understandable, seeing as our pets are adorable, cuddly, and excellent conversationalists (for people who like to talk a lot, anyway).

What's odd about the poll, however, is that when we're single, our relationships with our pets are fulfilling only to a certain point. That said, it's fun to include Mr. Wags and Miss Purrs in the holidays, and Valentine's Day is no different.

I love finding new healthy treats and fun new toys for variety. As I type this, my cat is having a ball tossing a dehyrdrated rabbit's foot up in the air. It makes for a very healthy treat, although she prefers to use it as a play toy...at least until my dog finds it; he'll eat it right away. I love getting him dehydrated treats like bully sticks and pigs ears from stores like . Think of them as a healthy, beef jerky type treat for pets. Usually no chemicals, no grains, just plain old healthy meat. His current favorite chew toy is a deer antler! What better way to tell your dog "Be Mine" than a deer antler?

Recently, on a quest for healthy pet food and vitamins at , I found myself walking out of the store with an impulse purchase in a paper bag. It was the Peek-and-Play Toy Box, a wooden box with holes in it, so cats can reach in and play with the toys inside. For some reason, my cats prefer to play with things that are just out of sight or out of reach, so I knew they would love it.

But since I also had the paper bag, I wondered which they would love more. So when I got home, I put the new toy right next to the paper bag on the floor to see which one would be more appealing to the cats. Which do you think was a bigger hit, the expensive wooden cat toy or the paper bag it came in? Watch the video above to find out!

Just like with any Valentine's Day gift, you never really know if it will make your love purr.
