5 Things to Know This Week: Bicentennial Bash, Great Weather and Laughs for a Good Cause

Family fun, sunny skies and a little basketball and ice skating are in store for the Cuyahoga Falls community.

 

1. Get the kids, grab your dancing shoes and get ready to celebrate the next bicentennial event. The will take place on Sunday, Feb. 19 from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. at the Natatorium. The evening will be filled with music, dancing, contests, prizes and photo opportunities. The night will conclude with a showing of “Furry Vengeance” in the Conference and Banquet Center. Plus, each child will go home with a goody bag filled with toys and treats. Tickets are required and are only available by participating in a special drawing. To be eligible, you must either be a Natatorium annual member or a Cuyahoga Falls resident. You may enter to win at the Natatorium, located at 2345 Fourth St., or the Utility Building Department, 2310 Second St. The entry period begins tomorrow, Jan. 31, and ends on Feb. 10.

2. Given the time of year, this week's Aol Weather forecast will be warmly welcomed. Temperatures will reach 43 degrees today and will rise to 52 degrees tomorrow. Wednesday will be mild as well, with a high of 49, but you may want to remember the umbrella as scattereed showers are expected. Near freezing temperatures have been forecast for the remainder of the week and there's a good chance that snow showers will hit this weekend.

3. Get those ice skates sharpened and head down to the . It's only open for a few more weeks and will be closed by Monday, Feb. 20. Rink hours range from 3 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays, 12 to 9 p.m. on Saturdays and 12 to 8 p.m. on Sundays.

4. For all those basketball fans, the boys varsity team will host Barberton High tomorrow, Jan. 31, at 7:30 p.m. The girls varsity team will face-off against Normandy High School on Saturday, Feb. 4 at 2:30 p.m. at home. The Woodridge girls varsity team will host Rootstown High School at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 1 and the boys varsity team will travel to James A. Garfield High on Friday, Feb. 3 for a 6:00 p.m. game.

5. will hit the on Friday, Feb. 3 from 8:30 to 10:30 p.m. Expect a night of clean, wholesome laughter with Brett Tipton, Professor of Public Speaking at Liberty University On-Line. This will also be an opportunity to donate dry goods to be used in the local community by Heart 4 the City – a partner distribution point for the Akron-Canton Foodbank.
