Snapshot of the Day: Ribbon Cutting Unveils Rock Fresh Restaurant

The Cuyahoga Falls Chamber of Commerce, Mayor Don Robart, city council members and local folks from the community joined in on Wednesday's grand opening.

Get ready to Rock Fresh.

Culinary entrepreneur, Rockne Becker, cut the ribbon to his new restaurant on Wednesday morning and is eager for folks to stop in and try his fresh, homemade fare, he said.

Customers will find all the food that comes with a neighborhood joint, plus a few ethnic surprises. There's organic salads, home-cooked soups, hand-carved pastrami and corned beef sandwiches and traditional American dinner options.

But for those who want to push their palettes a little further, Becker suggests the beef and latke's, stuffed peppers or the Hungarian sausage.

Interestingly enough, the food is only half the story. Becker partnered with local high schools and colleges and recruited a student service and cooking staff who are getting their first taste of the restaurant industry.

Many of the students are earning course credit with the hands-on experience, and Becker is eager to teach them.

"These young people really deserve all the credit," he said. "I'll show 'em the ropes, but they're the ones who are going to make this place a success."

Rock Fresh, located at 3883 State Road, is open from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Wednesday, 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Sundays.
