Piatto Novo Out, Beau's Grille In At Sheraton Suites

Diners will see some changes as the restaurant transitions into Beau's Grille by May 1, 2013

The Piatto Novo inside Sheraton Suites will, little by little, become a Beau's Grille.

And it'll do it by May, restaurant officials say.

"The Sheraton wants to bring in Beau's Grille, this great local place, and create more excitement in Cuyahoga Falls with a new menu and a concept that has worked for many years in Fairlawn," said Edson Pinheiro, food and beverage manager at the Sheraton.

"We want to bring that closer to the community here."

Beau's Grille, under the eye of Chef Beau Schmidt, has one location at the Akron/Fairlawn Hilton. It features more than 20 appetizers, including funky tuna tartare, pulled pork enchiladas, fried green tomato BLTs and potato and cheese pierogies.

Main dishes include sweet lobster tail, cavatappi pasta and filet mignon as well as other seafood and steak dishes. You'll find tiramisu, crème brûlée and mile-high cheesecake on the dessert menu, too.

"Think Tuscan-inspired fare with a decidedly American flair," a Fairlawn-Bath Patch writer wrote in a food review in 2011.

Pinheiro said the restaurant will not close for remodeling, which will include new tables, chairs and carpeting as well as new paint. The plan is to close off the restaurant — section by section — to remodel.

"We're not going to be tearing down any walls, or taking down any windows — no major construction," he said.

One thing that won't change about the restaurant's look? "The spectacular view," Pinheiro added as he stood in front of the restaurant's grand window overlooking the falls.

The hours and staff also will stay the same, with Roger Thomas remaining as chef and Billy Thurman assisting him as a la carte chef. But the changes might mean hiring more people.

Piatto Novo has been in the Sheraton for nearly five years. The decision to turn the restaurant into a Beau's Grille came about when Rennick Andreoli, owner of RDA Hotel Management, became part owner of the Sheraton this past summer.

"He thought it'd be a good idea to bring (this restaurant) here to the Falls," Pinheiro said.
