Cyber Monday: Ladies and Gentlemen, Start Your Search Engines

E-tailers hope you'll click all the way through for Christmas shopping.

In case you haven't heard, today is Cyber Monday, perhaps the most contrived holiday event since Sweetest Day. 

Amazon, Walmart and LivingSocial are hoping you'll spend the day shopping in your bathrobe from the comfort of your kitchen table, or wherever you use your laptop, iPad, etc. 

Amazon told the Boston Globe that Cyber Monday, the Monday after Thanksgiving, was its peak day for online orders last year.

Personally, I kind of short-circuited Black Friday after finding a certain video game picked over at – so I ordered it online from Amazon at a discount.
