Burntwood Tavern Opening Sept. 16

Extensive renovations continue on the unique, comfort-food style restaurant coming to Cuyahoga Falls.

Good news, food lovers.

The Burntwood Tavern will open at the old Samira location on Sept. 16 after "extensive (interior) renovations" are complete, said Cuyahoga Falls Development Director Sue Truby.

Owners Bret Adams, Dave and Fran Miller and managing partner Ian Hopkins opened the first Burntwood in 2010 in Chagrin Falls, and have since opened locations in Brecksville, Rocky River and Solon, according toburntwoodtavern.com

Like its other restaurants, Burntwood plans on bringing in its conceptual barn wood interior design and infusing it with the space that once operated Cuyahoga Falls' LeFever Dam.

"We are using the exposed brick and some of the old machinery to make a cool design. We are moving the bar right into the power house room," said Hopkins in Cleveland Scene on July 6.

The bar will be split off from the dining room, and other spaces will be made available for private dining.

The owners also plan on making good use of the five exterior patios which all overlook the river.

The restaurant features smoked, planked and wood-grilled food, but critics and patrons alike have been caught off guard by the rapid growth and uncharacteristic success of the comfort food-style eatery.
