Sherry McCrossin of Cuyahoga Falls, on her second tour of duty Friday morning, said the midnight crowd at , 445 Howe Ave., was "crazy." Later in the morning, about 8:30, the traffic was light and the parking lot about half full.

in Fairlawn was much the same at 7:30: Busy but mostly manageable. Some shoppers attributed the lower insanity factor to the earlier opening of many major retailers. Many retailers were open on Thanksgiving, and others opened at midnight with enticing early-bird specials.
