Oakwood Chapel Stained Glass Windows Presentation

The Northampton Historical Society will hold its next monthly meeting on Monday, March 26 at 6 p.m. at the Northampton Town Hall, 851 West Bath Road.

Speaker for the meeting will be local historian Mary McClure, who will give a slide presentation on the 12 historic stained glass windows that are located in the Oakwood Cemetery Chapel in Cuyahoga Falls. Every day, many residents drive by the Victorian-era chapel on Oakwood Drive but never realize that building has beautiful windows commemorating the lives of early Cuyahoga Falls families.

During the presentation, McClure will show photographs of the 12 windows as well as share information regarding Victorian funeral symbolism and the histories of the families honored in the windows.

Following the presentation, copies of McClure’s new book High Bridge Glens of Cuyahoga Falls will be available for purchase.  The book, a pictorial history of the park, chronicles Cuyahoga Falls’ heyday as a leading Victorian tourist destination.
