Viewfinder: Raised-Bed Gardening

Class shows gardeners how to raise successful crop.

Instructor Loree Cummings showed a small class the basics to starting a raised-bed garden, complete with a digital slide show of her gardens.

She discussed technical aspects, such as aligning the garden to maximize sun exposure and she encouraged would-be gardeners to plant what they like.

She demonstrated theme gardens such as a "pizza garden" with onions, a variety of peppers and tomatoes.

After the slide show, the class enthusiastically got their hands dirty putting strawberry seedlings into cups of potting soil to put in their gardens at home.
