Pedal for Heroes Kicks Off Feb. 24 at Natatorium

The Pedal for Heroes fundraising event will honor Ohio fallen soldiers who've died since Sept. 11, 2001

A Pedal For Heroes fundraising event will be held at the Natatorium on Feb. 24, 2013. Participants will cycle for 276 minutes in honor of every Ohio fallen soldier who has sacrificed their life in the Middle East since Sept. 11, 2001.

“The Pedal For Heroes event honors the military personnel whom have lost their lives and supports local veterans programs while engaging in physical activity,” said Cassie Schumacher, a main organizer of the event, in a news release provided to Cuyahoga Falls Patch.

“Ohio veterans have given so much for us. This is an opportunity to help local veterans and support their efforts to transition back into the community.”

In some locations, participants may also choose to walk, row, swim, or run for the allotted time.

Proceeds from the event will be donated to Pedal For Heroes, a 501(c)(3) organization, to provide services to local veterans. Last year, over $16,000 was raised by 11 participating fitness facilities in Northeast Ohio.
