Having a Birthday in 2013? Longtime Pair Celebrating With 'Big Birthday Blow Out'

Couple will blow out 125 candles on cake, celebrating two birthdays, public welcome

Do you have a January birthday? Or a birthday sometime in 2013? Then you’re invited to your celebration!

Two longtime Avon Lake residents are celebrating “big” birthdays this month and want to invite friends, family and “anyone having a birthday this year' to join in the fun at Kenilworth II on Jan. 12.

Terry and Sheila Hartsel, owners of Hartsel’s Automotive have birthdays this month. Terry is turning 65 and Sheila is turning 60.

"Terry had a birthday party when he was 60,” Sheila said. “I haven't had one since I was 7. I have not wanted to admit my real age until this year, haha.'

The couple plans on buying a sheet cake and putting 125 candles on for the pair’s combined years on earth.

“We’re calling this The Big Birthday Blow Out, because it will be,” she said. (Yes, it's in Patch's events page.)

The “blow out” will be held Jan. 12 at the Kenilworth II in Avon Lake's Drug Mart Plaza. The party starts ta 9 p.m.

“Our son Joe and his band Feast will be playing; they cover classic rock to current,” Sheila said. “On their break ‘Guiness Bill Krejci’ will be playing some good Irish music, so the music will be non-stop.”

The couple, who has been married 40 years and has worked together for 30 years, said they are just looking to have people come out and celebrate—no presents, just presence.

“Terry and I just want to ask anyone that has a birthday in 2013 to come up and join our celebration,” she said. “We both actually thought it would be neat to have our family and anybody who wanted to join us to come out.”

Kenilworth II is 21 and over. There is no cover charge.

“Just come out, have fun, celebrate and dance,” Sheila said.
