Why Go: Babies and toddlers ages 6 to 23 months, along with their caregivers, are invited to the library for Winter Story Times.

STROLLER SAFARI

Where/When: Akron Zoo, 500 Edgewood Ave., Akron; Thursday or Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why Go: Enjoy this Splishin and Splashin session, featuring animals and water.  Stroll around the zoo and enjoy music, games, stories, and meet the animals up close. Especially for the stroller set, ages 4 and under, with a caregiver.

Pricing: $15 for Akron Zoo member, $5 for additional adult; $18 for non-member, $5 for additional adult. Fee covers for one adult and up to three children.


Where/When:  Hale Farm & Village, 2686 Oak Hill Rd., Peninsula; Thursday and Friday.

Why Go: Students explore the social, political and economic impact of slavery as they follow the path of a fugitive slave running north to freedom via the Underground Railroad. Day programs at Hale Farm & Village are for students in grades 5 and up; evening programs are for students in grades 7 and up. To make reservations, call 330-666-3711.

Pricing: Day programs are $8 per student; evening programs are $12 per student.


Where/When: Hale Farm & Village, 2686 Oak Hill Rd., Peninsula; Friday at 9:30 a.m.; program repeats at 2 p.m.

Why Go: Also at Hale Farm & Village, students in kindergarten and up are welcome to compare and contrast sugar camps, tools, techniques and technology used in the sugaring process. They will also visit the Hale Sugar House and other sites to learn more about sugaring in the local community.

Pricing: $6 per student.

Where/When: , 1828 Smith Rd., Akron; Friday at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.

Why Go: Children between 3 and 6 years old, along with an adult companion, will learn why salamanders cross the road in spring. The program includes a craft and short hike.
