Christ Child Boutique Planning Fundraiser for Needy Youngsters

The fundraiser, organized by the Cuyahoga Falls non-profit, will be held Nov. 17 at the Fairlawn Hilton.

For the last 43 years, Christ Child Society of Akron has hosted a holiday boutique to help provide aid and clothing to area children in need.

This year's boutique will be held from 9 to 3 p.m. on Nov. 17 at the Fairlawn Hilton. Admission to the boutique is free and features crafts, artisans, raffles and a bake shop.

If you want to stay for lunch, for $32, you'll see a style show by Toni in Style from Chagrin Falls. Lunch selections include: Sherry Chicken served with Rice Pilaf and Fort Island Green Beans; or Potato Encrusted Cod served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Asparagus; or Vegetarian Past Pomadora - Penne Pasta, Black Olives, Spinach, and Tomatoes, tossed in Fresh Garlic and Olive Oil.

For luncheon reservations:  Mail a check for $32 per person, payable to Christ Child Society of Akron, to Micki Trenta, 2577 Stonecreek Dr., Akron, OH 44320.

"The mission is so important," said Sharon Connor, Christ Child member. "Children don't ask what family to be born into. We're there to provide assistance."

In the past few years, the fundraiser has brought in more than $20,000 and that has bought clothes and supplies for those children.

"It's our largest fundraiser and it buys us a huge amount of clothing," Connor said. "It's a great way to kick off the holiday season."

Just amazes me that people can't take responsibility, blame everyone else because they are too lazyRead More to be aware of what is going on, if you are that concerned about flag day, then you would think you would know when it is or just google it, all the information is available, it is so sad how our country has the blame everyone else attitude, wake up and take personal responsibility
Geoffrey Watson June 18, 2013 at 10:32 pm
Nolan,Why should a person even have to check a calendar to see when a holiday is. The media blastsRead More relentlessly on everything else that doesn't amount to a hill of beans. Yet when it comes to flying the flag the are MUM. That is what I am talking about. Like Dean said. Maybe peoplw don't display flags because they didn't know. Dean, what's the media for, if not getting the word out? Are they there to just sit on their butts and let people wonder what they really do? Talk about being responsible, I think the media should be responsible for getting the word out. They need to do something for their pay.

Oops that would be Tradition 10! Please follow Tradition 11 and have Akron Beacon journal staffRead More writer on Ohio.com , take those children pictures and names off the Internet ! TRADITION 11-Our relations with the general public should be characterized by personal anonymity. We think AA ought to avoid sensational advertising. We were very fortunate to have the Humane Society take them. They should be available for adoptionRead More soon. I am just deeply saddened that people can do something like this with no concern for the dogs' welfare and to thrust that responsibility onto others who can't stand by and do nothing.

Those kind of people would leave their human kids as well.

I agree, this is inconsiderate and unkind. I would wish that people would not treat their animalsRead More so, but that remains a wish. However, I am thankful that something worse did not happen. At least at the park, someone was there who was kindhearted enough to take action. I shudder to think of the "other" possibilities.
