Spectators Gather for Powerhouse Dam Demolition
Check out these fresh snapshots captured Thursday of the Powerhouse Dam demolition.
The RiverWorks demolition team has nearly demolished the Powerhouse Dam, and will likely be done by next week, according to Cuyahoga Falls Engineer Tony Demasi.
"Demolition is going absolutely great, (and) the crew has only one piece of the dam left to remove," he said.
Once demolition is complete, city officials are predicting the flow of the Cuyahoga River will exponentially increase, creating whitewater rapids that will allow for new recreational opportunities and an improve ecosystem, said city service director Valerie Wax Carr.
