High Bridge Glens history talk, book signing at Nature Realm on Nov. 29
The history of High Bridge Glens, a Victorian-era amusement park that operated near the site of the Gorge Park’s Glens Trail, will be the topic of a Thurs., Nov. 29 presentation at the F.A. Seiberling Nature Realm’s Visitor Center, 1828 Smith Road in Akron. The 7 p.m. presentation is free and open to the public and will feature a slide presentation by Cuyahoga Falls native and local historian Mary McClure, author of the recently published pictorial history book, High Bridge Glens of Cuyahoga Falls.
The Glens, which made Cuyahoga Falls one of the leading tourist destinations in this region in the late 1800s, is believed to have had one of the first roller coasters in the U.S.
Following the presentation, copies of the High Bridge Glens book will be available for purchase and signing at the Nature Realm’s gift shop, which will offer a discount on the price of the book for that one evening.
