 ing\nThe next meeting of the Cuyahoga Falls Historical Society will be h
 eld on Weds.\, Jan. 9 at the Cuyahoga Falls Library\, 2015 Third St.\, a
 t 7 p.m.\nSpeaker for the event will be Denny Reiser\, who will give a p
 resentation on the Battle of Antietam\, one of the pivotal events of the
  Civil War. The Battle of Antietam was fought at Sharpsburg\, Md.\, on S
 ept. 17\, 1862. During the battle\, more than 23\,000 soldiers were kill
 ed\, wounded or missing in action.\nThe battle is credited with ending t
 he Confederate Army of Northern Virginia&rsquo\;s first invasion into th
 e North. It also led to President Abraham Lincoln&rsquo\;s issuance of t
 he preliminary Emancipation Proclamation.\nReiser has researched the bat
 tle extensively\, as well as photographed the Antietam National Battlefi
 eld. He will share images from the park and other battle information dur
 ing his presentation.\nThe meeting\, which is free and open to the publi
 c\, will be held in the library&rsquo\;s downstairs Sutliff meeting room
 .
