In my opinion..I believe we should have the student's attend the March 26th meeting at Bolich. So that these students (Who Are The Future of this country)..can come to this meeting and VOICE There concerns and or problems...... We need to let these children speak there mind! So we can stop this non-sense bullying. Thank you for your time...

I am glad CF schools are serious about addressing bullying. When my oldest daughter, now 30, was at Bolich, she was being bullied. I went to the principal and spoke with her. She said "that's just how kids are". I moved my daughter to Roberts, where Mr. Ratcliff was on top of things, and we had no further problems in middle school. When she went to the high school, we had another problem. She was being sexually harassed, including unwanted touching, by another student. She reported it to the principal, who later became our former superintendent. He and the other principals treated her the way rape victims used to be interrogated and humiliated. She called me on the phone, crying hysterically. I arrived at the school, insisted that the incident be taken seriously, and the boy was suspended. We found out that the suspension was terminated so the boy could participate in sports. I contemplated filing suit against the school, but did not, because my daughter was being bullied for having reported the harassment in the first place. I commend Superintendent Nichols for taking a stand against bullying in our schools.

Thank god these people brought this to light. Maybe now after years and years of this going on they will do something! I believe Mr Haubert is working from above!

Bullying has been going on since the beginning of time. I don't believe it will be stopped for good. However, with that being said, if you feel you are not getting the response or attention you need from the administration at Bolich, you need to approach the superintendent. Kids are always going to be mean to eachother. Unfortunately they have more accessability to bully other students via facebook, texting and other social media. I agree 100% that we need to be informed of potentially dangerous situations that occur at Bolich and not find out in the Falls News Press that a child brought a gun to school. An alert-now message at the end of the school day informing us would've meant alot. I feel that Dr. Nichols is on top of the bullying problem and very involved in making this school district a wonderful place to be.

i agree 100% on you comment that bullying has been going on" since the begging of time" but i belive that this sent flags to people everywhere (people being bullied and the bullies themselves) that the behavior will not be any longer accepted. It also sends a message to the school admins that there is a large problem and that students and parents are commited to seeing the problem stopped.

Most bullying happens afterschool and off of school grounds. Maybe the cf youth division needs to follow up on this

I grew up in the Falls School district & attended Bolich. Bullying is nothing new, it's been going on for decades/centuries but that doesn't make it right! Parents need to sit their kids down & tell them bullying will not be tolerated in any manner. I was taught by my parents that "I" had to be held accountable for "my" action & that "I" had to accept any repercussions for "my" actions. While getting a detention never bothered me it was the punishment I'd get at home that bothered me. Any punishment I got from the schools was nothing compared to what I got at home, and by that I meant I WAS GROUNDED!! That meant spending any time after school & on weekends in my room, without TV, without any communication with friends (if friends called my parents told them I was grounded & for how long) so I could think & reflect on what I did wrong & why I didn't want to repeat it anymore! Yes, it gave me time to do homework but I was cut off from doing the things I wanted to do the most & that was be with my friends and having fun I was grounded for 1 week, 2 weeks, up to 6 weeks & while some may say that doesn't work it is because parents are too soft and end up letting their kids have their way. Too many parents nowadays are more like friends than parents. I know in raising my kids that if I grounded them, eliminated TV, internet & phone privileges that I had their attention and got desired results. Bullies are punks & no respectable parent wants their child to be a punk!

Why should the bullied students have to leave? The bullies should be put out of the school. Part of me says, "Let their parents meet their educational needs." On the other hand, I do have compassion for the bullies & their families. I believe that all ppl are redeemable. We as a community need to reach out to these families and children. Maybe they need support and help. We need better support services and individual efforts to help reach these kids.

Bullying can be found in every school in the country. It is all too often part of the way young people interact in our society. Every school must recognise its extent and impact and take steps to stop it happening. When bullying is ignored or downplayed, pupils will suffer ongoing torment and harassment. It can cause life long damage to victims. Both bullies and those regularly victimised are more likely to become criminals. A school's failure to deal with bullying endangers the safety of all its pupils by allowing a hostile environment to interfere with learning. There is clear, unambiguous evidence that school action can dramatically reduce the incidence of bullying.

Change the behaviour of the bully:

Use small group or individual intervention programmes such as:
No Blame Approach. It focuses on seeking the support of the peer group.
The method of Shared Concern targets the bully as an individual to accept responsibility before bringing everyone together in a group, including the victim.
Isolate the bullying behaviour

Remove the bully from the environment, see they know why they are being excluded.
Have the bully reflect on reasons for the isolation.
Ask the offender to write a letter home explaining why he / she has been isolated.
Check that the letter goes beyond "Because ‘victim’ narked on me".

We are all in agreement that bullying is likely here to stay. It happens in all species of animals, actually. So called - survival of the fittest. I believe oftentimes these children are being set a clear example by parents who are bullies, too. This happens not only at school, but in all facets of life. I experienced it school and in the work place. You experience it in the public sector as well. All I should have to say there is "Black Friday". None of this makes it ok. I am still bothered by what happened to me more than 30 years ago. It makes an indelible impression on the victim. However, I choose to be a victor, not a victim. And I have tried to instill that into my children, as well. Sometimes rising above it is the best you can do. It's not an easy rode, however. I do believe a solid, written in concrete plan of action needs to be implemented and a "discipline first, ask questions later" approach should be considered within the bullying arena.

I don't think CF schools have been serious about this issue at all. They are only doing this now because they got embarassed by some very savvy kids. My son is bullied constantly and no one does anything about it. He comes home with broken stuff, crying on a regular basis. I was told 2 years ago by the elementary school principal at his previous school it was too expensive to do a bullying program in the school!! How much is it worth to keep our kids safe?

I am glad the the students in the middle school are taking a stand against bullying. I feel that we need more tightly-knit administrative handling on the discipline with students who take part in bullying. I went to Bolich myself in middle school, and now am a senior at the High school and lead the weather program there. When I went to Bolich, there were certainly bullying going on, but not to an extent that it does now. I think the students voices should be heard and I am happy that the school is taking immediate action and measures to tighten their policies on discipline of student bullying.
