At last, the Ohio Department of Education has released the rest of the state report card information. The news is quite good for the Woodridge Local Schools district, but somewhat disappointing for Cuyahoga Falls City Schools.
While the data is still preliminary, as of now, Woodridge has achieved the highest possible state report card rating for the 2011-2012 school year: “Excellent with Distinction.”
Cuyahoga Falls was downgraded from "Excellent" in the 2010-11 school year to "Effective" in the 2011-12 school year.
School and district report cards are usually released at the beginning of the school year, but that timeline has been pushed back while the state auditor investigates whether some districts manipulated attendance data. Some preliminary data—without the ratings—was released in late September. The final results and the PDFs of the report cards won’t be published until the state auditor’s investigation is done, according to the Ohio Department of Education’s website.
Woodridge met 25 of the 26 report card indicators—measures like how many students scored proficient on a certain state test or attendance rate—and has a preliminary performance index of 101.5 out of 120. The performance index measures how well students performed on state tests overall. While the attendance rate and performance index had not been previously released, the school board got a look at the results in September.
Cuyahoga Falls met 24 of the 26 report card indicators and has a preliminary performance index of 99.1 out of 120.
Here are the report card ratings from best to worst and corresponding letter grades for point of reference:
- Excellent with Distinction - A+
- Excellent - A
- Effective - B
- Continuous Improvement - C
- Academic Watch - D
- Academic Emergency - F
