President Obama Releases Gun Control Proposal
President Barack Obama presented a wide-reaching proposal for the country’s gun control policies on Wednesday. Read on and tell us what you think of the President's plan.
President Barack Obama presented a comprehensive gun control proposal to the country on Wednesday, about one month after the school shooting in Newtown, Conn.
The Huffington Post reports that the proposal includes four major sections, focusing on topics like law enforcement, mental health, school safety and the availability of dangerous weapons. Many of these measures would require congressional action and could cost up to $500 million.
The president also announced more than 20 executive orders that can go into effect immediately, the New York Times reports. These include having the attorney general review the categories of people who are not allowed to have guns, reviewing safety standards for gun locks and safes and providing training on armed attacks to first responders and school officials. Visit the New York Times for a full list.
The full text of the president’s plan is available on the White House website, along with a list of the main components.

I am 100% supportive, and I can't wait for them to pass. When our children are no longer safe in schools, shopping malls, or movie theaters, it is time to act. Our 2nd amendment says nothing about automatic weapons.

Who has automatic weapons? Semi-automatic just like the majority of all guns(rifles and pistols). One trigger pull=one shot. Automatic...... come on. This is tiring. It doesn't matter what gun is used, it will more than likely kill. Why everyone thinks that banning military style rifles will be our saving grace. They are almost never used in crimes. All it is doing is making our government look like it is accomplishing something for once. I do support closing gun show lopolls. I never new they existed. Stuff like that makes sense. Other stuff....a joke.

The executive orders will go a long way to fixing our problems.
Nothing else is required at this time.
Passing legislation on emotion and without thought will do no one any good.
See what difference the executive orders make before running to congress.
