Time Warner Cable Services Were Out — What Did You Do Instead?
For many the inconvenience of not having cable last night was major because the NBA draft was on.
Internet (at times), cable and phones have been out in the Akron-area for hours Thursday night, according to a Time Warner Cable phone recording.
Several people have commented and complained about the outage on the Stow Patch Facebook page. Outages have been reported in Tallmadge, Stow, Cuyahoga Falls, Silver Lake and Munroe Falls.
There isn't much information at this time, but Patch wants to know ... what else did you do last night?
Did you pick up a book? Get some cleaning done? Run to a bar/restaurant to watch the NBA draft? Have you heard from a Time Warner Cable representative? Tell everyone in the comments section of this story!
Look to Stow Patch (if you have the Internet) to find out any information as it becomes available.
And if the TWC outage wasn't a bad enough inconvenience, just the day before (June 27) about half the city of Stow had to deal with a power outage after a main power line fell behind the safety center and started a small grass fire.

I put in a movie I haven't seen in awhile — Sideways. So, I'm still in front of the TV despite the cable being out. I'm also very thankful my Internet was only out for a short while ...

My daughter and I made s'mores using our stove, since its too stinkin' hot to have a fire. I played some solitaire on my computer, but now thankfully the internet is back. The TV....well, the only channel i can get, ironically, is WGN in Chicago!

I'm going to AT&T and sign up for UVerse tomorrow, I'm tired of their lack of caring wether or not we have service and keeping us informed in a timely manner on the status of when the repairs will be complete, not just that their still working on it.Mac McIntyre

I think we should get a credit on our bill for lack of service. After all, that's what we pay for and when we don't receive it, we should receive a credit! This happens all too often.

Uverse was pricey when I lived in Cleveland. I wonder if their rates are more comparable to Time Warner's in Summit Co.

I've had UVerse for years and love it. I haven't had cable for over a decade (refuse to get cable because their pricing is not consistent).
Uverse is always running promotions. Even for current subscribers.
I also regularly check out the satellite counterparts to see what they have (I've also had both Dish and DirecTV in the past), and UVerse is still the better deal, IMO.
Plus, I like their whole home DVR and wireless throughout the house.

I went to bed before 10 last night and was marvelling that we hadn't had any brownouts due to a heavy load on the electric system due to the heat.

I watched shows that I DVRed. It was weird...some channels worked...most didn't...but anything I DVRed in the past would work fine. Also, anything that I DVRed last night...even if the channel didn't work...the show still recorded.

I just find it hard to believe that adults can't find something to do when cable goes down. I'm 70 years old and have no problem picking up a book, reading chapters in the Bible, cleaning an area of the house that I've neglected, going out for ice cream or a local sports event. You could even sit down and write a check to the Salvation Army or Red Cross to help those in Colorado and Florida who are going through a whole lot worse that loss of a cable signal. My guess is, they'd trade spots with you in a second.
