Falls police officer John SIm, Mayor Don Robart and Derek Lashua broke ground on a police memorial just outside the Natatorium on Wednesday morning. Lashua, chairman of the Cuyahoga Falls and Silver Lake Police Memorial and Honor Guard Foundation, said the organization has received nearly $35,000 in private donations to move construction forward. The memorial will be completed by Aug. 7 and will serve as a lasting reminder of the many contributions of local law enforcement. The groundbreaking immediately followed the annual police officers' memorial service, which was organized by the Falls and Silver Lake Police Departments and held inside the Natatorium.
